Who am I?



1949: The family moved to Toronto and Garry is forced to make the transition from farm
boy to city kid. Despite life on the streets of Cabbage town, Garry maintains his love of
horses-the city horses pulling milk and bread wagons.

1950s: Garry discovers the riding stables on the outskirts of the city and trades mucking
out stalls for time in the saddle. By his teens, he is proficient enough to head up north
during the holidays to work breaking horses for summer camps.

1959: Garry trains as a Mechanical Draftsman at Central Technical in downtown
Toronto.

1963: Garry is accepted into training with Metropolitan Toronto Police and eventually
serves as Constable, Riding Instructor and Horse Breaker.

1968: Garry develops the Central Don Riding School through the Toronto Parks
Department.

1969: Garry is an ACTRA member in full standing, taking part in various productions
including television, films and commercials.

1970: Garry starts Rent-A-Prop, renting animals, props, costumes and scenery to
production houses in and around Toronto.

1972: Garry moves to Nova Scotia by boxcar with wife and worldly goods.

1972: Garry works as riding instructor and stable manager, CFB Greenwood.

1973: Garry attends University of Guelph Pre-Vet program.

1974: Garry starts Wilderness Treks horseback excursions into backwoods Nova Scotia.

1976: Garry establishes an auction house, Kings County Livestock Sales.

1978: Garry conceives and manages Nova Scotia Forestry Exhibition.

1984: Garry becomes Regional Manager for The Canadian Auction Group.

1988: Garry invents produces and markets “Who’s Who”, the board game.

2009: Garry takes Life Writing course with Diane McPhee at Acadia University.

2010: Garry takes Writing Fiction course with Susan Haley at Acadia University.
